BMW Differential and Transfer Case Fluid Service (xDrive)

Rear differential
The rear diff page lists preventive service (often around 30,000 to 60,000 miles), a whine from the rear, and says it is scheduled with the front diff and transfer case on xDrive SUVs. Owners describe a drain and fill as a 20 to 30 minute job on a lift. Confirm the fluid by VIN for M and limited-slip diffs, and ask whether a quote is rear only or bundled.
